Previewing Previews for March 2018 Catalog

Hello everyone and welcome to Previewing Previews! Just like a lot of other things we try here at Pulp Fiction, this is an experiment.  For now, you can expect a Previewing Previews in your inbox once a month, the week after Previews Magazine comes out. For those of you that don’t know, our distributor puts out a massive catalogue once a month detailing all the new stuff coming out from all the different publishers about two months after the magazine comes out. So the March Previews are for merchandise that comes out in May for instance. Now, while some of us love Previews Magazine (myself included) and we can’t wait to flip through it to see all the upcoming goodies, I understand that the big honking magazine can be intimidating. I mean, it’s huge.

SO, I will do my best to go through and pick out items on both ends of the spectrum: the big big things that you should know about and any small small things I think look cool. If you’re a pull subscriber and you see anything you’re interested in, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us know before the end of the month so we can order accordingly. It’s never too early to ask for anything, but it’s unfortunately common for it to be too late.

If you’re reading this and you’re not a pull subscriber, please know that we have a totally free holding service. You could be avoiding Sold Out signs and saving up to 25% OFF on your comics!

Ok onto the good stuff! Scott Snyder has two big books spinning out of DC’s Dark Nights Metal event including the return of The Challengers and some special plans for the Justice League.  I think the hot trade for DC has got to be the Batman by Loeb and Sale omnibus for the folks that want their Long Halloween and Dark Victory together in one handsome tome.

Loooooots of stuff from Marvel in May, as they are relaunching many of their biggest titles, the biggest of which is probably Jason Aaron and Ed McGuiness taking over on The Avengers. Also, the new hot writer at Marvel, Donny Cates is taking over Venom just in time for the new flick. After years, the critically-acclaimed Shield series by Hickman and Weaver is finally getting a conclusion. Marvel is also reprinting the first four issues together in a very affordable package for those that want to catch up before the last two issues drop. Young Boy Wolverine is coming back! In addition to a comic penned by Charles Soule (who killed him to begin with), there are four different mini-series tying into the Hunt for Wolverine.

On the indy front, Brian K Vaughan and Marcos Martin, the creative team behind The Private Eye, have another online comic coming to print called Barrier. Just like The Private Eye, the five-issue series will be published in a wide-screen, landscape format and will be coming out weekly beginning in May. Rick Remender has a new series with European superstar Bengal, and Garth Ennis has a new horror comic coming out from Aftershock. The long out of print issues of Shaolin Cowboy originally published under Burlyman our finally getting the deluxe hardcover treatment they deserve from Dark Horse.

So that’s it! See anything you like? Let us know by the end of March. See you at the bottom…
