Pulp Fiction Long Beach Newsletter Week of 4/24/19

Hello everyone! Happy Easter! If it’s Easter, then Free Comic Book Day cannot be far behind. FCBD is rapidly approaching this May Fourth (It’s also Star Wars Day) and we’ve added some guests into the mix. I’ve included some links below.

If Free Comic Book Day is coming, that also means there must be a major Marvel movie coming out as well. There were years before when I was too busy to catch whatever big Marvel movie was out just before FCBD. I would have to wear a shirt that said “No I have not seen Marvel Movie X yet.” It’s Endgame week! That means Big Daddy Thanos gets a new series this week, but it also means…NO SPOILERS! Endgame conversations will be relegated to slight, knowing looks between people that have seen it and that’s about it. Please be sensitive to folks that won’t be able to get out to see it this week.

Are you a local graphic novel creator? LitFest Pasadena is a literary festival with 100s of authors and dozens of panels, workshops, performances and readings over the weekend of May 18-19 in the Pasadena Playhouse District and this year they are looking for other authors to join Gary Phillips on a panel about graphic novels. Interested in checking it out or getting involved? Check out their website.

See you at the bottom…

Invisible Kingdom #2
(W) G. Willow Wilson (A/CA) Christian Ward

With cryptic calls from the “phone zone” and no one to turn to for help, the adolescent adventurers come to a breaking point, where they either must work together or lose more than just the dial.

Marvel Rising #2 (of 5)
(W) Nilah Magruder (A) Roberto Di Salvo (CA) Audrey Mok
Morgan Le Fay has invaded New Jersey! Or should we say…NEW CAMELOT?! And under her mind-twisting rule, the citizens are going crazy! But Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl are not about to watch the local bodegas turn into potion-dealing apothecaries. Luckily, they’ve got a few friends to help them out: Spider-Man Miles Morales and Inhuman Inferno! And when former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Daisy Johnson joins the case, they’re sure to have Morgan on the ropes. Unless, of course, she sends a GIANT HORDE OF MONSTERS AFTER THEM?! Okay, this looks worse than we thought…

That’s it for this week!
