Pulp Fiction Newsletter Week of 2/28/18

Hello everyone! We’re getting Previews magazines this week so I’m reminding our pull subscribers that we’re only ordering for those that have requested them, plus a few more so if you want to make sure you get one before they sell out, you need to let us know to add it to your pull list!

And while we’re on the subject of Previews magazine…I’m working on a version of the newsletter tentatively called “Previewing Previews” in which I’ll highlight all the big stuff and cool-looking, under the radar stuff from the latest Previews. Expect that to be a monthly email, the week after the physical magazine comes out. It will be kind of a work in progress as we figure out the best way to do it, so please feel free to offer feedback on what you’d like to see.

Lastly, the Long Beach store will be having a big back issue sale this weekend so get ready to roll up your sleeves and get to digging.

Back Issue sale >> 5 for $1, thousands to choose from!

The Wilds #1

(W) Vita Ayala (A/CA) Emily Pearson

After a cataclysmic plague sweeps across America, survivors come together to form citystate-like communities for safety. Daisy Walker is a Runner for The Compound, a mix of post-apocalyptic postal service and black market salvaging operation. It is a Runner’s job to ferry items and people between settlements, and on occasion scavenge through the ruins of the old world. Daisy is the best there is at what she does. Out beyond the settlement walls are innumerable dangers: feral animals, crumbling structures, and Abominations – those that were touched by the plague and became something other. After a decade of surviving, Daisy isn’t phased by any of it – until her lover, another Runner named Heather, goes missing on a job. Desperate to find her, Daisy begins to see that there may be little difference between the world inside the walls and the horrors beyond. From writer Vita Ayala (Bitch Planet: Triple Feature, Wonder Woman Annual) and Emily Pearson (Cult Classic) with colors by Marissa Louise (Spell On Wheels) and covers by Natasha Alterici (Heathen), comes this bold tale of surviving in bleak times.

Rick Veitch’s ground-breaking series has been called the last word on superheroes. It is a world-spanning, continent-crushing, over-the-top adventure story that brings the United States and Russia to the brink of annihilation… from both nuclear warheads and crazed superheroes-run-amok! Completely remastered with new scans and updated color, all overseen by Veitch himself, The One presents a shocking worldview that almost predicted today’s political climate!

Calexit #2

(W) Matteo Pizzolo (A) Amancay Nahuelpan

“The tree of liberty must be refrshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Zora and Jamil are faced with some harsh choices, a few roid raging Neo-Nazis, & not much water…But Disneyland has churro ice cream sandwiches so it’s kinda all worth it. California Über Alles.

Beautiful Canvas TP Vol 1

Beautiful Canvas is 2017’s smash hit warped crime miniseries about Lon Eisley discovering the similarities and differences between her job as a hitwoman and her new role as a mother-to-be when she finds out her girlfriend is pregnant. Going from destroyer to creator/protector is a major swerve, but parents still have plenty of violent and brutal moments to contend with, especially when the world is full of pyrokinetic sleeper agents, animal/hybrid muscle-squads, and one hell of a nasty boss pulling your strings. From the creative team of Sami Kivela (Abbott) and Ryan K Lindsay (Negative Space, Eternal, DC Writers Workshop) comes this gonzo world of future noir, where the story aims to deliver a brutal blow to your heart and piss in your brainpan.
