Pulp Fiction Newsletter Week of 5/9/18

Hello everyone! Thank you to all the folks who showed up for Free Comic Book Day. We were busier than last year and so I got meet a lot of new people! We have kind of a stacked month with lots of events for May. Andres Salazar will be promoting the Omnibus release of his book Pariah Missouri this Saturday and later that evening, it’s Ladies Night! Come hang out with the Culver Crew and other lady nerds after hours. More details below. We also have a bunch of sales planned this week from back issues to statues. I’m often asked by parents what more they can do to encourage their children’s drawing interests. If this fits your description, take a close look at Jim Higgins’ Comics Class for Kids starting in June. More details below.

Ok, but what about new releases?? The three big books this week are Justice League: No Justice #1, Venom #1, and Barrier #1. Justice League No Justice is a four issue mini-series that sets up the new status quo for DC’s biggest heroes including the relaunch of the main Jusitce League book, Justice League Dark, and Justice League Odyssey. Rising superstar writer Donny Cates is taking over the Venom series, and given his prediliction for horror, I think it’s going to pretty sweet. If supes aren’t your thing, Brian K Vaughan and Marcos Martin have a new book out this week called Barrier! If you liked The Private Eye, definitely give this a look.

On the trade side of things, there are two reprints that I’m personally excited about, but I’ve missed recommending them to customers. The first is Beasts of Burden, a beautiful book with art by Jill Thompson that’s Homeward Bound meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The second is the much needed new format for Hellboy! Hellboy is my favorite comic, and they’re finally putting out something I can easliy sell to customers. If you’ve been waiting to start Hellboy, now is a good time to jump in. Ask me about it!  See you at the bottom…
