Pulp Fiction Newsletter Week of 7/8

Hello everyone. Hope you all had a good 4th of July weekend. There’s a lot to cover today so let’s get started. The slight Secret Wars lull in new series from the last couple Wednesdays seems to be over as we have another 4 new titles. We’ll be selling them at half off for this week only. We also have two indy deals of the week for The Tomorrows #1 and Strange Fruit #1. Take a look at the preview links below and see what catches your fancy. Outside of the deals, we have an Archie reboot, a new Invader Zim series, a new Star Wars title, and more! On the graphic novels side, East of West gets its first deluxe hardcover and one of my favorite, “thought it would never come back” series gets a remastered collection in preparation for a new story arc! And now that Four Eyes is getting a second life, I expect the same for Fell dammit! Also we’re getting a fairly substantial shipment of new Funko toys. Check them out below!

In store news, the Long Beach location has around 2000 recent additions to the 1$ bins and will be hosting Paul Jamison on the 22nd.  The Culver location will be hosting a couple folks on the 15th also, and we’re going to be purging some back issues so look forward to some dime bins the weekend of the 18th. Finally, our good friends, the Monster Elementary crew have begun another Kickstarter. Follow the link here to see what you can do to support them. See you at the bottom…

Strange Fruit #1 Deal of the Week $1.99

(W) Mark Waid, J. G. Jones (A/CA) J. G. Jones
Two of the industry’s most respected and prolific creators come together for the first time in a deeply personal passion project. J.G. Jones (52, Wanted, Y: The Last Man) and Mark Waid (Irredeemable, Superman: Birthright, Kingdom Come) take on a powerful, beautifully painted story set during the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. Strange Fruit is a challenging, provocative examination of the heroic myth confronting the themes of racism, cultural legacy, and human nature  through a literary lens, John Steinbeck’s classic novel, Of Mice and Men. It’s 1927 in the town of Chatterlee, Mississippi, drowned by heavy rains. The Mississippi River is rising, threatening to break open not only the levees, but also the racial and social divisions of this former plantation town. A fiery messenger from the skies heralds the appearance of a being, one that will rip open the tensions in Chatterlee. Savior, or threat? It depends on where you stand. All the while, the waters are still rapidly rising…
