Pulp Fiction Newsletter Week of 8/31/16

Hello everyone! It’s one of those light weeks so no deals I’m afraid. BUT there are a few new interesting series to take a chance on. The trades on the other hand are a bit more robust with the first collections of Black Panther and Spider-Man Deadpool.

The Culver City location will have a guest this Wednesday morning! Jordan Hart will be there from 11am to 1pm to promote his comic book one-shot, Terminarch! The book has a great premise and the art looks good!  You can check out a preview here and a review here. I’m all for self-contained, sci-fi one-shots! Does anyone remember Our Love is Real or Jan’s Atomic Heart?

See you at the bottom…

The Killer Inside Me #1

(W) Devin Faraci (A/CA) Vic Malhotra

Jim Thompson’s sinewy, brutal, and beloved novel comes to life as a five-part graphic noir! Adapted by writer Devin Faraci (The Fade-In) and illustrated with gut-punchingly vivid art by Vic Malhotra (Murder Book).
In THE KILLER INSIDE ME, Thompson went where few have dared, giving us a pitch-black glimpse into the mind of the American serial killer years before Charles Manson, John Wayne Gacy, and Brett Easton Ellis’s American Psycho, in the novel that will forever be known as the master performance of one of the greatest crime novelists of all time.
Lou Ford is the deputy sheriff of a small town in Texas. The worst thing most people can say against him is that he’s a little slow and a little boring. But, then, most people don’t know about the sickness-the sickness that almost got Lou put away when he was younger. The sickness that is about to surface again.
•   Foreword by Stephen King!
•   Variant covers by Robert Hack (Mean Streets).
•   “Probably the most chilling and believable first-person story of a criminally-warped mind I have ever encountered.” -Stanley Kubrick
•   Part of IDW’s five-week Creator Visions event! Five creator-driven books, launched in five straight weeks!

Reincarnate #1

(W) Michael Moreci (A/CA) Keith Burns

Nate McCoy isn’t your ordinary private detective. Sure, he’s a bit of a slacker who doesn’t follow orders and loves to rattle the status quo’s cages, but that’s not what really sets him apart. After rattling the wrong cage, Nate took a bullet to his head that, somehow, didn’t kill him. Instead, it gave him an unusual ability: He can see and interact with past versions of himself. The people he reincarnated from. With the help of Jameson (a Wild West lawman) and Alan (a Mad Men-era hitman), Nate sets his sights on taking down his city’s crime kingpin and find out who he has to “thank” for the bullet that gave him this strange, and helpful, new power.

Saga #37

(W) Brian K. Vaughan (A/CA) Fiona Staples

NEW STORY ARC
“THE WAR FOR PHANG,” PART ONE
SAGA is back with its most epic storyline yet, and to celebrate, FIONA STAPLES graces this issue with a gorgeous wraparound cover! Finally reunited with her ever-expanding family, Hazel travels to a war-torn comet that Wreath and Landfall have been battling over for ages. This arc is a self-contained “event” we’ve been building to since our very first issue, so now is the perfect time for readers who love SAGA’s bestselling collections to join our monthly adventures!

(W) Jeremy Holt (A/CA) Alex Diotto

Jonny Wells desperately wants to relive his grunge rock royalty past. As bassist of Samsara, he craved the Rock’n’Roll lifestyle that eventually claimed the life of the band’s visionary lead singer and his best friend. Now a VH1 cautionary tale of drug addiction and self-loathing, Wells trades his smack for an old battered guitar, and discovers that returning to his former glory days are only a few chords away. Literally.
